The Kindle Ingestion and Expansion (KIX) team enables independent authors, content creators, and publishers to publish their content as eBooks for distribution to the Kindle Store, Kindle Unlimited, and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library; as well as in print formats for sale on Amazon’s global marketplaces, bookstores, and other online retailers using Amazon’s state-of-the-art Print on Demand (POD) technology. KIX is a key component of Amazon’s vision to provide Kindle customers with the world’s largest content selection in their preferred format - digital or paperback.

The KIX Support Engineering team provides Tier 2&3 services production support and is also responsible for providing multifaceted services to the Kindle digital product family of development teams and working with production operations teams for software product release coordination and deployment. This job requires you to hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks that will define your success.

Key job responsibilities

1. Provide support of incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks, with responsibilities covering multiple products, features, and services.
2. Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects, primarily in Python, Perl, or shell scripts, web technologies, with the potential for Java based projects.
3. Software deployment support in staging and production environments.
4. Develop tools to aid operations and maintenance.
5. System and Support status reporting.
6. Ownership of one or more Digital products or components.
7. Customer notification and workflow coordination and follow-up to maintain service level agreements.
8. Work with support team for handing-off or taking over active support issues and creating a team specific knowledge base and skill set.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience.
2. Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
3. Experience in Unix.
4. Experience scripting in modern programming languages.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience scripting in one or more languages (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby).
2. Experience working with REST API based services.
3. Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON.
